All Things Radar: Severe Weather
From the Girls Who Chase special workshop series

All Things Radar: Severe Weather,

delivered in partnership with COMET/MetEd

Girls Who Chase trainings offer foundational, operational and accessible information and training material for storm chasers and weather enthusiasts at all levels - from those who want to begin their chase education or brush up on the basics, to more advanced chasers wanting to learn more in-depth about specialized topics.

This specialty workshop will offer interactive in-depth sessions, case studies and tech tips for all experience levels on key radar products to prepare for and chase severe weather. The sessions introduce how to effectively use radar and radar products, with a focus on the particular products most impactful for storm chasing (e.g., products that help determine hail presence and size, various products to assess storm lifecycle behavior, and more). An interactive case study will detail the use of high-resolution mobile radar data to make similar assessments that can augment field research and storm chasing. An additional short session will cover tips and tricks to get the most out of your phone or desktop radar applications.

Workshop registration includes a 60-minute pre-recorded introductory "radar 101" session provided by COMET that we recommend registrants watch prior to joining us on March 7. The YouTube link to the session is included in all registration confirmation emails.

GWC education events will always be held virtually and remain affordable; the GWC community is global and we believe strongly in making science and learning accessible to everyone without the constraints of travel or financial hardship.
